UNDP-WHO (World Health Organization) joint briefing session on Covid-19 virus pandemic with United Hospital’s Management, Consultant doctors and Caregivers. UNDP Resident Representative Mr Sudipto Mukherjee, WHO Representative to Bangladesh, Dr Bardan Jung Rana, WHO Senior Medical Epidemiologist Dr Hammam El Sakka were presented in the briefing session. UNDP-WHO will jointly assist United Hospital on any further requirement in this regard.
In the session, UNDP Resident Representative Mr Sudipto Mukherjee talked about his Sierra Lion experience during Ebola outbreak. The Western African Ebola virus epidemic (2013–2016) was the most widespread outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD) in history—causing major loss of life and socio-economic disruption in the region, mainly in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
WHO Representative to Bangladesh, Dr Bardan Jung Rana discussed about the overall scenario of this global outbreak and what WHO is currently doing to assist Bangladesh Government.
WHO Senior Medical Epidemiologist Dr Hammam El Sakka discussed about all the technical aspect of this epidemic and how to be prepared to face it. Mr. Sakka also answered all the technical the questions from the consultant doctors.
United Hospital CEO, Mr Faizur Rahman Khan gave a vote of thanks to all the participants including the representatives from UNDP and World Health Organization.
