United Anwara Power Ltd. (UAnPL) entered into a Power Purchase Agreement with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) for the supply of 300 MW (net) on 13 November 2016. UAnPL also entered into an Implementation Agreement on 25 January 2017 with the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh for the implementation of a 300 MW (net) HFO fired power generation facility.
The 300 MW (net) HFO fired power plant will be located at Rangadia Mouza, Anwara, Chittagong. The power plant will have 17 units of brand new Wartsila 18V46 engines with 17 Waste Heat Recovery Boilers (WHRBs) and 3 steam turbine generators. The unique feature of this project will be its secondary power generation system which will not require any additional burning of fossil fuel as the boilers will generate steam from the exhaust of the engines. This will reduce emission levels, making the power plant comparatively environment-friendly. The power plant is scheduled to come into operation by April 2019 as per the Required Commercial Date.
