Taking note of Bangladesh’s ambitious growth targets, it is very important to give serious attention to manufacturing for both employment expansion, productivity enhancement and increasing per capita income oriented to reduction of poverty in the country. In its early years, the manufacturing sector of Bangladesh was constrained due to inadequate private investment, however, the need for industrialization was well recognized and private sector investment was much welcomed. The manufacturing and textile started picking up pace. As per recent statistics, textiles, RMG and manufacturing sectors are the major contributors to the national GDP. United’s journey in this sector began in the mid-90s with the establishment of a spinning mill. The later years saw the establishment of sewing thread industry, PET bottle manufacturing industry and last but not the least, a lubricating oil blending plant.
